The weather in Denia
Denia enjoys the classic Mediterranean climate characterized by warm temperatures and low rainfalls. The average annual temperature is around 18 degrees Celsius, which makes it the ideal place to enjoy holidays.
In summer there is a large influx of tourists for the great variety of entertainment and leisure activities that can be done in Denia. It is also one of the favorite places in Alicante to enjoy the classic sun and beach tourism.
However, it is important to bear in mind that due to the magnificent climate of Denia throughout the year, both in summer and in winter, there are things to see and to do in Denia and here is a little list:
What to do in Denia
The Castle of Denia is located in the center of the city and is one of the most famous and outstanding monuments of Denia. It is more than two thousand years old and full of history. In the upper part of the castle you will find the archaeological museum that has four rooms that correspond to the four historical epochs that the castle has lived: Iberian, Roman, Muslim and Christian.
Buildings of historical and cultural interest
In the city of Denia we can find a large number of churches and civil buildings of great historical interest. Some of those that we recommend as a visit are the Church of the Assumption, the Church of San Antonio, the Church of Our Lady of Loreto, the town hall and Les Drassanes, an old building destined to the construction of boats and that is currently used as a very well known hotel in Denia.
Montgó Natural Park
The Park of the Montgó was declared in 1987 as a Natural Park. It has more than 2100 hectares of land and is located between Dénia and Javea. In this natural environment you can find more than 600 species of flora and fauna typical of the area. You can make a wide variety of activities and excursions to offer excellent service and special attention to visitors to the Montgó Natural Park.
Creative City of Gastronomy
Denia has been declared in 2015 the Creative City of Gastronomy by the UNESCO. This is due to the fact that Denia achieves the perfect combination of the products of the sea and the Valencian garden, and has therefore managed to position itself as a benchmark in the Mediterranean diet.
Denia is undoubtedly a benchmark in Spain of Mediterranean culture and cuisine and a wide variety of activities related to the gastronomy of the town are carried out throughout the year.
Every Monday and every Saturday morning throughout the year you can enjoy the traditional Municipal Market located in one of the most recognized streets and areas of Denia, where you can find some of the classic and fresh products of the town. Some afternoons several activities, among which we highlight the gastronomic demonstrations and especially the tastings, are carried out.
The Fish Market is also well known, at the Fishing Pier of the Port of Denia, where every afternoon from Monday to Friday you can buy fresh fish brought by fishing boats recently arrived from the sea.
There are also several markets, traditional car boot sales and fairs in different places and of different types distributed throughout the Denia region.
